The Backstory

I don’t remember a time when art — either the creation of or the enjoyment of — didn't take me to a place where all was right with the world. A deep and private place I could call my own, where my thoughts and intentions were focused solely on the aesthetic.

Studying fine arts at the Corcoran School of Art and James Madison University in the early 1980s, I diverted from my path in my mid 20s. My studies and my painting took a back seat while I met other life goals. 

During my late 20s and throughout my 30s, I was fortunate enough to collect fine antiques and art  and continued to surround myself with beautiful objects. Inevitably I acquired more than I could enjoy or appreciate at any given time, so my collecting gave way to occasional selling (although I often did, and still do, have a difficult time letting go, as I hand select each work with great care).

In 2003, I decided to turn my part time avocation  into a full time business. Buying and selling fine art and decorative objects is indeed my life's calling, as not a moment goes by when I actually feel as though I am working. 

I am tenaciously searching art that moves me with the certainty that if I I have passion for it, others will as well. Choosing each piece with meticulous care, I find myself at estate sales, antique shops, art and antique fairs and just about any other venue where I might find an evocative painting or a fantastic sculpture. I purchase works both piece by piece or by the portfolio, remaining meticulous in choosing only those pieces that I would love to have in my own collection.

Once I've selected a work, my passion turns to research. I tirelessly dig up any and all background on the artist and provenance on the piece. This information assists with the final decision to include the work in my gallery. Any knowledge I have will be fully represented here.

I fully expect to spend the rest of my days gathering art and offering it through my gallery. The acquisition, research and placement of fine works of art has given more meaning to my life than any other path I could have chosen.  I was placed on this earth to assist others in finding the beauty in visual arts, and for that I am eternally grateful.
